Contest for young artists

All Campuses

An alumni parent who works at Google has been kind enough to keep us in the loop on opportunities that Google has for high school students. Here is the latest:

Welcome to Doodle 4 Google, a contest where we invite students in the United States to use their artistic talents to think big and redesign Google’s homepage logo for millions to see. This year we ask students to exercise their creative imaginations around the theme, "If I could travel in time, I'd visit…" One lucky student artist will see their artwork appear on the Google homepage and take home some cool prizes--and as a special bonus, the winning artwork will appear on a limited edition of Crayola's iconic 64 box! If you are interested, go to:

Parent Information Night with Jan McClain

All Campuses

We will be hosting an evening with Jan McClain, teacher and learning specialist at Tilden Albany, on exploring ways that parents and teachers can work together to increase students' motivation, both at school and in their personal lives, by applying what neuroscientists are learning. Please join us on Tuesday, February 7 from 7-8 p.m. to talk about this important topic. There is no charge, and all are welcome
Jan will be bringing her knowledge as a teacher, learning specialist and life coach with more than 30 years of experience, and will introduce ideas from readings and her own work that she's found to be most helpful. Everyone will have a chance to share ideas and questions. If you are interested in reading more about the subject, she suggests several books:

"Mindset" by Carol Dweck,
"Your Brain at Work" by David Rock, and
"Shine" by Edward M. Hallowell

Please RSVP 925-933-5506, but you can also just come if you need to decide at the last minute.
Tilden Albany is located at 1231 Solano Avenue Albany, CA
